3. Trees, Branches & Leaves
3.1. A Tree is composed of Branches and Leaves
3.1.1. A Tree can contain as many Branches and Leaves, or levels of Branches and Leaves, as desired,lLimited only by the amount of available memory
3.1.2. All Branches can have Leaves
3.1.3. Leaves are the smallest unit in BrainForest
3.1.4. Leaves become Branches when new Leaves are "grown" from them
3.2. Branches and Leaves are composed of Items and Action Items
3.2.1. Items simply indicate information
3.2.2. Action Items include a Checkbox or Completion Percentage
3.2.3. Other Item and Action Item attributes include:
3.2.3.1. Start Date, Completion Date, which may be Repeated
3.2.3.2. Notes
3.2.3.3. Priority Level
3.3. Tree Types
3.3.1. Standard - all Action Items have Checkboxes

4. Getting Started
4.1. Tap the Create button or choose Create Tree from the Tree Menu
4.2. Use Grafitti to enter the name for the New Tree
4.3. Tap the checkmark, or tap anywhere else, to complete your entry
4.4. Screen will change, Branches and Leaves can now be created
4.5. There are two Tree Types: Standard and Project
4.5.1. Standard Trees contain Action Items with Checkboxes
4.5.2. Project Trees contain Action Items with Completion Percentages
4.5.3. Completion Percentages for Branches are totalled from all their Leaves
4.5.4. To set the Tree Type, choose Tree Preferences in the Options Menu

5.1. BrainForest's power is in the Details dialog
5.2. Select any Branch/Leaf then tap the Details button
5.3. A Branch/Leaf Item can have the following attributes assigned (which can be changed at anytime):
5.3.1. Priority
5.3.2. Action (a Checkbox or Completion Percentage)
5.3.2.1. A Not Done/Done checkbox or Percentage Completed Amount
5.3.2.1.1. If the Branch/Leaf contains a Total from other Completion Percentages, it cannot be edited, just viewed
5.3.3. Start Date
5.3.4. Due Date
5.3.4.1. End Date cannot be set until a Start Date is defined
5.3.5. Repeat Frequency
5.3.5.1. Daily, Weekly, Monthly or Yearly
5.3.5.2. An End Repeat Date can be set once Repeat Frequency is established
5.3.6. Notes - Tap on a Note Icon to read it
5.3.6.1. Can be created in any Tree, Branch or Leaf via the Details Dialog - tap the Note button
5.3.6.2. Can also be created via Attach Note command from the Tree Menu
6. Arranging & Display
6.1. Trees may have their Branches & Leaves reorganized at any time
6.1.1. Drag and Drop
6.1.1.1. There's no need to tap the Branch or Leaf before a drag and drop
6.1.1.2. Just drag it to it's new location, by dragging "on top of" the destination Branch or Leaf to add it to that level, or by dragging to the desired insertion indicator line
6.1.2. Cut and Paste via the Edit Menu
6.1.3. Graffiti keystrokes can be used to move a single Branch/Leaf
6.1.3.1. Select an Item and make a "space" in the Graffiti area to demote it (make it a child of previous item)
6.1.3.2. Select an Item and make "backspace" in the Graffiti area to promote the selected item
6.1.3.3. Use the special "previous field" and "next field" Graffiti strokes (used in the Address Book) to move items up and down at same level.
6.1.4. Sorting
6.1.4.1. Choose the Arrange command in the Show Menu
6.1.4.2. Select to either Arrange the Whole Tree or the Current Branch
6.1.4.3. Arrange by: Title, Priority, Due Date, Completion Percentage
6.1.4.4. Arrange by: Ascending or Descending order
6.1.4.5. Second sorting level available
6.1.4.6. All Branches and Leaves (hidden or showing) will be arranged
6.2. Show or Hide specific Items via Show/Hide in the Show Menu

6.5.8. To turn off all numbering:
6.5.8.1. Choose Tree Preferences from the Options Menu
6.5.8.2. Uncheck the Show Numbering checkbox
7. Scrolling Within Trees
7.1. Tap, or hold, the Up or Down Scroll Arrow in the button bar, to scroll up or down
7.2. Alternately, use Up or Down Hardware Button on the front panel, hold down for continuous scrolling
7.3. To move to the Top, Bottom or the Next Undone Item, choose the appropriate command from the Show menu
8. Expanding and Collapsing
8.1. Display Triangles appear at the left of a Branch once a Leaf is created
8.1.1. The Display Triangle is used to expand or collapse a single Branch
8.1.2. If the Display Triangle points to the right, there are additional items within the Branch
8.2. The Expand and Collapse commands in the Show menu control how the whole Tree is viewed
